Phishing is Back (and Sneaky!) – How to Protect Yourself
CYBERSECURITY

Remember those scam emails promising millions or threatening your bank account? They're back, and even sneakier than before! According to the (ISC)² report, phishing attacks are on the rise again. These scams try to trick you into giving up personal information like passwords, credit card numbers, or social security details. They often look incredibly realistic, mimicking legitimate companies or organizations.
What does this mean for you? Be extra cautious with any unexpected emails, texts, or calls requesting personal information. Never click on links in suspicious messages. Instead, go directly to the company's website (by typing the address yourself) to check if the communication is legitimate.
How to stay safe:
Think before you click: Hover over links to see the actual URL. Does it look right?
Verify directly: Contact the company via a known phone number or website, NOT the contact information in the suspicious message.
Use strong passwords: Different passwords for every account is ideal. A password manager (see below) can help.
Enable two-factor authentication: This adds an extra layer of security.
Helpful Tools:
Password Managers: LastPass, 1Password, Bitwarden (help manage your strong passwords) [Link to a comparison site of password managers]
Phishing Simulation Training: Many cybersecurity companies offer training to help you recognize phishing attempts. [Link to a reputable cybersecurity training provider]
